India is home to around 1224 species of birds while the State of Goa has reported as many as 432 species of birds that inhabit its forests, wetlands and coastal habitats. There are abundant birding hotspots in the state numbering almost 100 where significant species diversity has been recorded. The main venue of the bird festival shall be Bondla. Celebrating this Avifaunal biodiversity, this festival aims to promote biodiversity in the country. The festival aims to conduct nature/bird watching trails in Bondla and Bhagwan Mahaveer Wildlife Sanctuaries & National Park on the first 2 days. Being the biggest of three sanctuaries in Goa, this rich sanctuary houses several species of birds which are delightfully beautiful to watch. The Morjim beach is recommended to catch great glimpses of sea-birds. The third day€™s visit shall involve birding sites visits at Carambolim and Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary, Chorao. One can experience many migratory birds which flock nearby places. This sanctuary has a watch-tower for better viewing of birds. Apart from the several resident birds, the Sanctuary also has some winter visitors that offer a feast for the eyes for ornithologists. A variety of films are also planned to be showcased depicting birds, their habitats and also experience technical sessions with well-known ornithologists.
